the fear of the wallpaper

ever since i moved to my own space, i have been dreaming of putting wallpaper on my walls. first i was checking them in decor magazines, cutting the pages out and saving them in various folders & boxes. then i was researching the wallpaper stores in my city and searching their catalogues online. even when i was at a DIY store, i would always stop by the limited selection of wallpapers, which was usually full of disney characters for children's rooms. then pinterest arrived in our lives, & since then i believe i have checked at least one wallpaper every time i log in! & lately ... instagram! but of course, instagram is full of gorgeous pictures of the most delicate rooms decorated with the most astonishing wallpapers! 

& how many rooms have i decorated with wallpapers? ... none ! yes, you read well, none. i believe i have the fear of the wallpaper. although i have saved a bunch of codes & every once in a while i check the online shops, ready to order... something inside me prohibits me from taking this large step in my life & wallpaper my walls! is it indecisiveness; there are indeed so many beautiful designs? is it the fear of the work it entails if & when i will want to change it? or is it the fear of the statement my wallpaper will make {do wallpapers have their own personalities, hence their own statements?}? so bizarre, yet again such a long-lasting feeling! 

anyone else out there who is overtaken by the fear of the wallpaper ? or is it only me?

confused? well, you might have heard before that pantone decides every year "the color of the year". in their own words:

flashback to Christmas

Christmas was almost a month ago but it was only this morning that I found the time to start undecorating our apartment! I guess it's never too late, right? I always feel some kind of melancholy when the festive season is over, so, I try to delay the process of removing the Christmas ornaments as long as possible, but, this year I have to admit I overdid it!

while wrapping all this delicate stuff and putting it back to its boxes and up to the attic to be ready for next year, I spent a couple of minutes looking at the Christmas deco I bought this year. we somehow turned this into our family tradition; every year we buy something new that adds up to our Christmas collection. here is this year's "discovery"...

together with the Three Kings bearing gifts, I discovered Patience Brewster! what an amazing collection! all these unique figures.... I fell in love with the "12 days of Christmas" figures! I sing along while uploading the photos below...

every child's dream? {letters to each other}

my dearest natasha,

ever since i moved to Copenhagen i have indeed embraced the minimalistic scandinavian taste in everything, even for christmas decorations. i do love the few green branches with the simple light string, and  the paper made ornaments, in shades of grey, brown or silver. 

..but there is still something inside me, possibly my innocent love for christmas, or the every-child's-dream, that makes me to absolutely adore the over-the-top christmas decorations! and although every year i postpone our over-the-top decorations for next year, i just found a true inspiration for this subject: Courtney! 

Courtney makes a complete new project {every year} of decorating her amazing 1950's split level home in Northern NJ, just outside of NYC, with different christmas themes! of course she and her family live in an amazing house, but Courtney has a true talent in mixing and matching different styles, creating a unique and coherent theme every year! and not mention that she decorates every single room, even the bathroom!! 

ah natasha, please remind me next year how much i dream of a house decorated like this!
